Hi,
It snowed here in Romsey [Mt Macedon area] 3 weeks ago, so nothing would surprise me...

Better not be too much! I'm planning to be up at 1700m in the High Country next week and I don't fancy some of those tracks covered in snow!!!!

Just don't get trapped at the top of Blue Rag Track if it snows or rains -- I wouldn't fancy going down those rocks, they're bad enough dry...

"Coward" is my middle name :)
I'll have enough food and
water (rationed) for about two weeks (in cold weather) and I won't be afraid to use it! :)
You're spot on though - up in the mountains, if the weather turns bad then just sit it out, probably won't last more than a day or two at this time of year anyway. Was a bit west of this location a couple of years ago in January at 1200m and had heavy hail, rain and temp down to +2C. Can't wait to get back up there :)

I spent my honeymoon up there a few years ago over the new years eve period and we had -3 overnight temps.
The temp in the swag was pretty high though LOL
Cheers Kev

West Coast, South Island, NZ. 15 degrees today and 120 mm rain last 24 hours, a few km inland on the mountains 300 mm rain. Some fresh snow and 120 km.
Otherside of mountains (Kaikoura) 30 degrees and very high wind. Anyone want some spare
water?

Kiwi Kia
We got a weather report from Picton couple of months ago
... beautiful one day, perfect the next.
Do you mean to say that wasn't the truth and the guy that sent it was just trying to make us jealous ?

Hi Mrs S.
No they were probably right. We have had great weather for a couple of days followed by really bad winter storms for a couple of days followed by nice weather again cycles for the last month! Any bad weather that
Melbourne gets we get even worse about three days latter after more
water has been picked up crossing the Tasman.

We are a few hours west of
Melbourne and it is currently very cold and windy, so do I email him the weather forecast for today and laugh ?
At least the harbour he is in now is more protected than the one he was in in Australia.

Mrs S, Picton may miss this lot as it is sheltered from the southerly but they have a gale warning of 50 knots in open sea near there at the moment. The deep south of NZ will get that southerly in a couple of days. Picton did get very heavy rain a couple of days ago.

Had heard about them as a friends brother had just returned fron a trip '
home' but hadn't seen them on the news here.
They are pretty amazing.
We have had rain but only 9mm and strong wind but it is improving now.
