Hi, Has anyone had any experience with 'CEM’s Flushing Oil Concentrate' - that is, Does it work like the advertising says, and is it worth doing or does it cause other problems?
Thanks for sharing your experience,
Chappie

Yep - used it on a 7 year old 80 series diesel, and have done the follow up dose every 2 or 3 oil changes.
The oil stays a lot cleaner and its a lot less rough on idle. Impossible to pick whether it saves fuel - too many other variables, especially as I started hauling a caravan about the time. I bought my second bottle just recently
It's been pretty widely recommended on this site and I saw no negatives at all from anyone before using it.
Worth a bash I reckon. .

Hi Max:
I don't want to hijack the thread, but I have a bottle of it and have not used it yet. I change my oil almost religiously every 5000km. I had the view that regular changes would eliminate the sludge thing in my diesel. Would you think I might get any benefit from using it?
I had previously thought it was for engines that did not get much in the way of regular
services.
Thanks .. and apologies again for the thread hijack.
Jack

Hi Jack
I'm like you - have changed the oil regularly at 5000 km, and the filter as
well because it gets very heavy in 5000 km. However, after about 2 or 3,000 km, you could stain your fingers on the dipstick.
Since I treated it (Just by putting 125 mm of the FOC into the old oil, run it at fast idle for 30 minutes then drained it, plus regular 25 mm "maintenance doses" just before oil changes), it looks like engine oil till the next change. I can rub the dipstick and not get my fingers all covered with soot the way they used to.
So I reckon the answer is yes - they talk in their literature about soot building up around the back of rings etc, and seem to be right.
Hope that helps
Max

Yes, I have used it and it is great. See the old posts about my experience with it. Seems to be expensive but after the first dose the useage rate is low. despite what nonusers may say, it works
well.
