Hi all,
Quite some time back someone posted a link for factory refurbished
inverters, Jaycar rings a bell? If anyone knows of or can remember i would really appreciate.
Cheers
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Inverters are cheap enough new, with a proper 12-month warranty. My experience with a particular brand (not Jaycar) was failure of 3 units (all replaced under warranty) before I got one that has worked fine for the last 4 years. From this failure rate, I assume there is a design fault with the unit, or it's using under-rated components. These faulty units would have gone back to their workshop for repair and ended up in the refurbished bin, so in this respect, I would not recommend a refurbished unit.

Damn thing draws almost 1.5A just for the privilege of being switched on!
All the cheaper (and probably most of the expensive) inverts will be pretty stressed when asked to operate at their full load limit - probably best to derate them all by 25%.
