Hi,

I'd like to order a bullbar antenna mount (the GME stainless steel type that wraps around the top bar of the bullbar) for a GUIV with the Alloy Factory Bullbar.

I can't measure the diameter myself as the vehicle will not be here until next week but I was hoping that perhaps one of you has already fitted one of these antenna mounts and can tell me the right diameter mount to order.

Thanks.

I haven't fitted a mount, but measured the Nissan alloy bar on my GU4. 45mm diameter above the headlights and 75mm diameter in the centre section.

I just fitted to my GU4 the GME wrap around heavy SS type that has two countersunk metal threads with nyloc nuts and it looks very neat. P/No. MB102SS I think it was. They advised me to stay away from the long "white" aerials as they fall apart internally on bad corrugations and cause a lot of warranty claims. Apparently there is just a piece of cardboard up the guts of the white tubular section that holds (read supposed to) the wire in place. I went for the AE909L which folds down and it has performed well so far. Have experienced some noise interference from the electro-magnetic air conditioning clutch coming in via the aerial circuit which I am currently sorting with GME.

Hi blown4by,

Thanks for the info.

I went for the RFI CD900, and no, it's not the long "white" aerial. Corrugations can do terrible things to antennas. On a recent 7000km run out across the simpson desert, chambers pillar and flinders range my friend's stainless steel whip antenna simply snapped off. Fortunately, Ian at Mt Dare was able to sell him another replacement fibreglass whip.

If your antenna is the AE409L (not sure what the AE909L is) with the changeable whips of 6 & 9 db then you need to check the screw periodically as it works loose and the whip falls off whilst you are bumping along a track.

Thanks again.
