This may be old news for some readers, but some of it was new news to me!! I was talking to a Toyota salesman this week. Here's some of the things he reported...
Standard 100 series ceased production as at 1 Nov 06.
1HZ motor gone - forever.
No more conventionally aspirated diesel motors - ever.
Remainder of 100 series range to cease production 1 Dec 06.
New 130 series not due till August / Sept 07.
No standard model in the range.
Regards

There goes the confidence that those wanting live axles can still go for the standard!

I somehow think the current 100's are going to hold their value very
well - noted the other day one sold at the SA gov.t auctions (ex Primary Industries probably) - GXL TD auto, 110,000k, about 2 months of the 3 year warranty left, bull, cargo, and towbar - brought about a sandwich short of $50,000.

All will be ok!
Toyota (rumors) will run a live axel in all commercial landcruisers alla the ute and troopy, with the troop carrier having an option of 5 doors, or 3 doors. So in other words you will be able to get a twin turbo diesel 130 series troopy with a LIVE AXEL, however the 100 series styled cruiser (130) will retain IFS, check out the latest 4wd monthly for a comparison on the cruiser front end vs the partrols, very interesting. The sad news for the "just wait till you drive it" people (Nissan people) is that the partol will loose the live axel next year (what a shame) the problem being is that nissan do not have another car in their fleet with a live axel other than the ute.
So it looks like Toyota will once again dominate the sales race with a diverse range of vehicles. Imagine the amount of 5 door troopys you will see out west and on
the beach especially in the RV trim level.
OH WHAT A FEELING!!!

All will be OK is
well said. Toyota know their markets
well and the live axle has it's space. I reckon a Twin Turbo V8 Diesel Live Axle Troppy would be absolutely awesome. Can imagine some of these looking and sounding real trick.!
Bring it on I say.! Oh what a feeling..!

I can imagine the price of these great new things from toyota where 1/4 of the cost is getting a toyota logo on it.
Oh what a feeling, MASSIVE REPAYMENTS!

The Troppy will only have a single Turbo. They are saving the Twin Turbo for the 130 in Aogust

I have heard that Toyota are calling it the 200 Series (not 130 as a lot are saying)

Now now Stuk don't be getting all upset about the quality of Toyota.! 1/4 price for the logo..?? Wow thats impressive cocko, are they made of GOLD.? Narr don't think so, you get what pay for and if Toyota didn't deliver that and only sold logos they wouldn't be number 1 in Australia by a country mile.!
