Evening to all,
I would like some opinions on an idew that i have had.
I have a Cavalier Offroad Camper Trailer and am thinking of getting a 32/25 Engel Combo Fridge/Freezer and want to be able to carry it in the trailer when we go away, what i would like to do is have it on a slide and spring mounted so that when we are at the place we want to stay we can slide it in and out as needed(simular to how the kitchen slides in and out).
Has any oe ever done this or knows of someone that has, does the engel get enough air to keep it working properly, are there any special things that peolpe have done along this line, what is the best way to get constant power to it while travelling or are there any other thoughts an what i could do to have this dream of
mine come to life.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
cheer's
Kevin

I have a cavalier sans shock absorbers and I would carry the fridge in the vehicle if going on anything that is a little rough. Even with the shockies I would put the fridge in the vehicle. I wrecked some of my gear in the trailer on the back roads in Qld and across the middle. On bitumen I would not worry so much but off road is what the camper is about, ay.
I like the camper, there is so much to improve on! But the tent is
well made. I want to put brakes on before the next big trip and reinforce the sides where I carry
water and fuel. The metal was not treated properly before they painted it but I dont mind spraying over the rust every year. And fit some shockies!

Hi Kevin,
I've done just that. Our camper allows a 40L Engel on slide, which we have positioned at the rear of the camper. The kitchen slides out one side and the fridge the other. We've done
Perth-Alice return via GCR,
Perth-Kangaroo Is return and various weekend trips with this set-up. Works
well and no issues to date with the fridge (heat, vibration, etc).
I have fitted a 3rd battery to the camper and I've run a dedicated 12V line to socket underneath the bed for the fridge (and sockets on top for light, etc). Sockets are to suit Hella plugs so smaller than cigarette socket. If at powered site can plug into 240V no worries - don't even have to disconnect the 12V as Engel auto detects and switches out the 12V supply.
Noticed you're from WA so if you'd like to view our set-up send me a member message.
Regards,
Hugh

I would stick with the back of the 4WD. Whats the point of a fridge when you head off and leave the trailer for the day, no cold drinks etc. We went from a gas to a Engel for convenience of always having it with you rather than way back at the
camp.
cheers
