G'day all
Has anybody camped at Dundubara on Fraser recently, I was after information on what the facilities are like now. I was told they now have new amenities etc. I did a search but all the posts on the subject are fairly old, although some of them mentioned noisey backbackers being a big problem, have the rangers clamped down on this now ? Just interested on hearing any recent reports of the place.
Many thanks Jon

I was there in september, Was pretty much the same as it was when i was there 2 years earlier - apart from the
dingo fence they have built around the whole campground. The new facilities were not complete (though they were painting them - so they can't be too far off)
Noisy neighbours wern't a problem for us. Showers are $1/3 min.

Jon,
This is from the EPA website:
"CAMPGROUND AMENITIES BLOCK - CLOSED FOR MAINTENANCE
The
Dundubara Campground amenities block will be closed for upgrade work 15 November to 29 November 2006. During this time portable
toilets will be provided. Showers will be unavailable. Alternative facilities are located at
Central Station and
Waddy Point campgrounds. Visitors are asked to observe
signage and not enter the construction site. "
So all going
well in just under 2 weeks the facilities should be completed and upgraded.
Have a good day.

Thanks Brian
I saw that on the EPA website after I'd posted the thread. We're planning on going the first week of Dec. So we may
well be amoungst the first to use the newly renovated amenities. Thanks for your reply.

When I was there 12 months ago there was a new ammenities block that looked like it was nearly finished, this was totally separate to the existing one.

Hey John
According to the rangers they are waiting for govt funding to install an appropraite septic system for the new facilities. By the sounds of it, that will still be some time off. We were there in Sept and booked camper trailer sites. When we got there we found out they had booked us tent sites, which of course we couldn't get the trailers into because of the ballustrading. Tops! To there credit they accommodated us, next to the rubbish facilities, on the other side to the tree
boundary - better than nothing. Check your booking!
The facilities were ok when we were there, but most of the time we used our own anyway. Portable shower and porta potti. Noise wasn't a problem.
Waddy Point is quite a hike with some tough sections to navigate where traffic gets accumulated -
Indian Head & Ngkala Rocks. It's possible you could spend time here snatching others out or worse still yourself. Plenty get stuck.
Central Station is OK up the top section near the new facilities, but rainforest canopy ensures it stays fairly cool. We liked
the beach location of Dundaburra the best. Enjoy.
regards
Mike
