Sunday 19th is the cleanup day organised by ABUG, Appin Bush Users Group.
A volunteer group of 4wd clubs, cyclists, walkers, horse riders and many locals
All are welcome to join in. Bring sunscreen, hat and gloves along with a willingness to help clean up so as to keep the area accessible to all. RFS, Scouts (sausage sizzle) on site along with drinks.

Post cleanup party/gathering, jumping castle for the kids and full size indoor Slotcar track to race on @ my4x4 in Ingleburn, western side of railway station.

go to www.abug.com.au

hope to see you there tomorrow or maybe the next cleanup day when it comes around :))

Andy,

When it was first posted a while ago I indicated that I'd come along, but my back is restricting me big time at the moment so I don't think I'll be of any use. Hopefully next time I'll be able to assist.

Hope you all make a difference and enjoy yourselves.

Cheers Kev

BIG THANKS to all who played a part. Although there were some hiccups that willl be addressed I think it was very successful as shown in the figures below.

Number of individuals 39; non club mbrs
Number of clubs 22; Canberra, Orange and closer. BIG thumbs up
Number of club members 261
Total number of people 300; Women/men and all ages
Number vehicles 137
Estimated combined tonnage of removed refuse 30t
Number of asbestos sites found TBC
Estimated refuse remaining 250t
Number of sausages cooked 500
Number of drinks 550
Number of prizes etc given away 300
Number of ABUG personnel not counted above 30
Estimates hours put in by ABUG members prior to clean up 3000hrs
Number of sponsors 26

some car wrecks were rusted to the point of disinegration when pulled so a followup detail along the tracks was nessecary to pickup the peices as they fell apart.
Work is continuing to remove rubbish from site.
Next Major Cleanup is in March on Cleanup Australia day.
Interest has come from Nth and Sth to get something happening in their own local area.
Local paper did a breif the week before, 4wdtv will cover as did 4wd mtly which is how some ppl found out about it and on the spur of the mo' joined in. Was it the biggest cleanup outside of C A D??

Cheers to a cleaner enviroment

Look forward to hearing more stories of other events from Nth and Sth.
