Hi to all, first time forum participant so please be gentle with me. Could anyone help me out, wheel bearings are getting really hot so i replace innner, outter & seals on both wheels, had to replace both lock nuts as there was evidence of outter turning on shaft, but no obvious signs of wear on shaft. Tightened up new ones but still seem to be getting hot, removed one nut and i suspect new bearing is turning as well. How tight is too tight, when doing up the locknut.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

when u tighten up the main nut you should spin the wheel while doing this if it slow up the tire to quick its to tight

but it should not be to lose either the heat is coming from the nut is to tight and causing friction from bearings

Hay thanks for the replies, have dismantled both sides again and reassembled so I see if the problem is fixed. I think part of the issue is the type of locknut used, its just a round disc with internal thread and a couple of holes for a special tool or a hammer and drift so it a bit hard to guage the correct adjustment. Anyway thanks again I'll keep you posted on the outcome. cheers with beers.
