Back in August we asked for information about fitting a Denco Turbo to a 78 Series Troopy. We have now had it for awhile and can say we are delighted. We can now travel up through the tunnel from Adelaide comfortably. Pre-turbo we have have to sit in the slow lane and be passed by semis. We were pulling a poptop. The change is just what we wanted - love it. We also have better acceleration generally.

Yes I have just had mine fitted also, altho I was not happy with the tuning, or shall I say, the lack of. I was told they were going to fully set it up properly, and all they did was drive it and decided, that the fuel screw on the pump didnt need adjusting at all. Now I ask anyone, how is not turning up the fuel screw on a deisel going to make any more power, unless it was already overfueling? (it has NEVER blown black smoke). Putting a turbo onto a engine without extra fueling is just going to blow more air throught a motor, but not actually burn the extra air! There is not going to be any more power! whats the point!

So you have to be carefull who you choose to do the work.

I went back and got the screw turned up a bit and now you can tell the difference, it no longer slows down on gentle inclines and has enough power for passing in some situations. I am now happy with the results, but having known a thing or two about turbocharging (biult two turbocharged street cars) I don't think they are worth the money they are asking, however the extra money you fork out does save you a HEAP of time and effort, if you were to just buy the turbo and do all the other work of making things fit and making brackets and fittings to complete the conversion. In a denco kit you get everything you need, not just a turbo. The turbo itself brand new is only worth about 1500 dollars. The full kit is closer to three grand. add another grand for an exhuast, tuning and fitting. Paying a bit more is sometimes worth the saving in time and trouble to achieve a result. So Id also give the denco kit the thumbs up:)
