Just had a look at the Aldi Notebook for $999. It's a 1.8GHz Intel Pentium 512Ram CD/DVD burner and lots more.
Has anybody here bought one? Would love to know any thoughts on that one.
Cheers

Reiner OfficeWorks have been selling Medion brand laptops for a couple of years. We bought 2 for field work because they were cheap as they get dropped and abused. Both are still going a treat even though they look like manure. Would buy again without hesitation.

Probably get an Acer cheaper, however there's mixed reports on them, but Asus, Compaq and Toshiba are all around that price (for that spec). I've been keeping an eye on them as I want to buy one too.

Thanks for your replies. I bought a sec hand desktop 12 month old for half the money the other day and I might do the same buying a laptop.
Don't need the fastest or newest anyway so I will be locking for something 12 month old or close to it.
Thanks again
Cheers

If you want a good deal look up computer fairs on Google. I bought a laptop for my son 12 months old, as new for $400 with dvd burner in it...New computers are a bit like cars, once you get them out of the
shop they depreciate expiditiously and soon are rendered obsolete by the IT set though in practise they are still perfectly serviceable...
The Medion stuff seems to be good value for your hard earned $$$ though
