I am in Brisbane and at this time of year I usually take my sons camping for a few days. Usually for this father/son trip we go to Kenilworth State Forest (in south east Qld) . Unfortunately it is too dry and the swimming hole has disappeared. I am after suggestions in northern NSW for camping in a bush environment, preferably a place with fresh water for swimming. Any suggestions?

The Clarence river is probably a good bet for fresh water, I'd like to help you with a good spot but we camp on private property when down there.

Hi there,
try any of the state forest camping areas there is one called the junction you can omly tent camp and you need a four wheel drive, there is also platypus flats which is up behind gleenreagh last time we camped there you could camp in camp trailer ut you might need to check with state forests, nymodia national park is good you can turn off on the old glen innes road, as well as the glen inness highway we usually use the old glen innes road entrance had a ball hardly anyone there over the christmas holidays when we were there also could try dalmortan national park further up the old glen innes road, and there is also the camp at mitchell town i think it is called further up past the road tunnel all this is on the river front I would go nymydia national park you can allso camp at Alice on the Tabulum baryugil rd all except the last has toilets but no shows im sure your boys wont mind that there are others but that will give you a few to start with also think about the styx river camp ground outside the new england national park if these are not of any use rply and ill think of some more these a just a few off the top of my head and not the ones on private property barb

If you are talking campng as in state forests this won't help. We just came back from Mount Warning Caravan Park. They have a wilderness area on the flats. It is next to a stream which lead into a river less than a km away. The caravan park has a beaut swimming pool which we wrinkleys used.

Super highway all the way from your way to the Murwillumbah exit 10 Km from Murwillumbah then about 12 more out on the Kyogle Road.
