Hi there Troll yep looks like myn did 3 weeks ago, I just hit myn with degreaser a couple of times and cleaned up like a beauty and to my surprise I found the air con to be cooler as
well especially when sitting in traffic I think due to the fact that the fan wasnt pulling the air through the condensor properly due to the rad been clogged up, the hilux's dont have an additional air con fan up front, I also noticed my temp guage down a mill or too nothing dramatic but might have been a different story had I been towing. Glad to see you got it out no problems, I only had my rad replaced last year so just gave it a good clean and sat there for about 2 hours straightning up the fins with a little jewlers screw driver. Hope thats solves your problem. Regards Steve M

Hi
While you have the radiator out put the cap on lay it down with outlets up and fill with degreaser let it soak for a day or two then flush out till clean , you will be amazed at what comes out, and you can tip the degreaser into a tin and use it elsewhere.

It would save you a lot of trouble in future if you inserted some mesh of sorts be it fly-wire or shadecloth in front of radiator, I've always done it with any vehicle I've bought and even in hopper plagues I've gone through, no clogging of radiator but you can't stop them on the glass though.
Saves those grass seeds getting in too, but on the Canning it has to be treble thickness for the spinifex, it's a the shocker if you get them in your radiator.
Just slide in behind grill.

Me thinks shade cloth is a bit too restricting for a permanent mesh idea. The weave is too thick compared with the holes in it, I would assume a 95% shade cloth also prevents 95% of the air passing through.
What I fitted about 15 years ago is bronze fly screen and its still doing a sterling service. I went to a lot of trouble to make a decent frame to tie the screen around and this fits snugly in front of the aircon condensor. A recent replacement of the radiator (it suffered of old age) showed there were no debries stuck in its slowly vanishing fins.
The screen can be hosed down from front & above to clean it.
I do fit an additional plastic fly screen over the bull bar when going where grasshoppers or olts of seeds could be encountered.
