Advice please. Where to obtain a 12volt screen to use as an extension to my laptop when using moving map? They don't appear to readily available in SA.
Thanks
Mike

ebay. 7inch touch screen with vda input about $270 delivered I think. I know ebay is not always the best option but I have not been able to find a suitable one anywhere else.

I hope you have better luck with products from Brash Imports that I did.

First camera had a faulty auto iris from new and was replaced after I paid return postage.

Also purchased a DIN size 7 inch TV/monitor and it worked great for 10 months before dying.
Brash refered to their webpage, and said that the unit WAS under warranty but I would have to send direct to CHINA and pay a service fee and postage costs both ways. Decided it was too risky as the unit may be lost or damaged in transit. Ended up buying a monitor from Jaycar with an AUSTRALIAN warranty.

Don't know how much you want to spend, but Complete Audio at Wayville have a nice, solid, motorised single DIN NESA in-dash screen with multiple inputs and a nice wide viewing angle. They're $599 but can also be used for reversing camera input at the same time.

Try " electronicar" on ebay, I've bought several items from them including a 7" Lilliput screen.

Mike, I bought an 8" LCD colour screen from Bit Distribution in Vic, which I have fitted into my 2005 Patrol.
A slight hitch with the thumb screw tightening into the base of the screen, I rang Bit Distribution and explained to them the problem. I returned the screen back and had a replacement within 48 hours. I can only say their service was excellent.
It is a touch screen connected to my Laptop running oziexplorer. I have a universal powerpack for the laptop which runs off the 12 volt system and converts to 19 volts for the lap top as a continuous supply of power and it is excellent.
You will need to look at how you are going to install in the vehicle, as the bracket in itself was inadequate to attach to the dash and I had to give the screen extra support under the left and right base of the screen as due to corrugations it will turn on the thumbscrew behind the screen. With the extra support it was stable, I covered most of the Kimberley areas and it was excellent. The Cape Leveque track which I rate second to the Canning Stock Route in corrugations didn't affect it at all.
With the touch screen you can also run the laptop as normal. EricM
