Thanks everyone for yur comments on my earlier post. I ended up with a 2001 Pajero GLX which seems pretty good. As it was 4WD of the year in 2001 I figured that it couldn't be too bad. The Jackeroo of the same year came close.

Next question, for owners of a 2001 Pajero ....

The handbook and a few other bits are missing, can anyone tell me what is supposed to be held in place by the straps in the net on the back door? To be honest I saw the net yesterday but only spotted the straps today and then realised that something is missing.

Next: Has anyone fitted dual batteries? There doesn't seem much room. It looks as though I might have to move the charcoal pot (easy) and probably the ABS brake bits (not so easy). Hopefully someone knows a better way.

Thanks

Nick

What Motor is in it?

I think the 2nd battery fits where the charcoal pot is in the petrol not sure about the diesel.

Cheers Kev

Nothing missing, it's just a storage space.

Don't forget to wander over to the forum at www.pajeroclub.com.au

Greydemon.

Great to hear you ended up with a Paj.

Petrol or Diesel , I have had a petrol and now have the DiD.

The dual battery in the Petrol was a larger battery than was able to fit in the Diesel.
Can't remember of hand amp hour , but opposite lock is where I got my battery carrier from. Local guy supplied the other gear and wired it in.

Derrek advertises here (E O) said he was doing something with dual battery systems for Paj's I reckon might pay to check him out.

Cheers Scoof

Manual/auto?

Dual battery trays can be sourced from Piranah, ARB or TJM. Not too difficult to fit, can require relocation of the charcoal canister, depending on the type of tray you get. Aircon pipes may need a gentle bend. Don't have to touch the ABS. I have a 700CCA battery in a Piranah tray in mine, and relocated the charcoal cannister to the drivers side, next to the ABS setup, exact mirror of where it is standard.

And the holden camira got car of the year as well back in the 80s. Only kidding, good on you and hope you enjoy your travelling, I think the pajero's are very underated and are very capable off road, just take a look at the desert runs they keep winning.Take care and hope you enjoy.
