Sorry, no idea - BUT does anyone know the output figures for the V8 Diesel single turbo (Ute/Troopy) and is it going to have coils or leaves???
Sorry for the hi-jack Sam :-)

Is anyone else having/know of supply problems with current model 78/79 series vehicles. Our leasing agent (in QLD) stopped taking orders on current model on 1st November quoting that no more stock was available being shipped from Japan because of new models arrival, but... could not say when they would or could get stock of new model. We also approached local major Toyota dealer about stock (we mainly only get normally aspirated poverty pack white utes and troopies) and they claimed they had 2 left and that was it for stock of that model ever, but also could not reveal any more about new model. Our leaders have also placed an "environmental Smart State" ban on any V8 for us, so probably will rule new model out anyway. We have swapped camps to Nissan who have agreed to fit all accessories we want and can guarantee delivery prior to March next year (when they will be needed for fieldwork). Bad move by Toyota as we have been brand loyal for the last 20 years, but with no stock we cannot buy them. Our leasing agent would source over 200 Landcruiser variants a year.
Cheers

Hi 666toy
Sorry for late response. I was referring to my employer whom will no longer allow any v8's in our fleet - cars or 4wd's. It was a bit cryptic the way I put it, but I didn't wish to blurt out names etc.
Cheers

Yeh i am with you now,
Gov departments dont have much common sence. A mate of
mine has a 6.2 chev diesel in his 4x4 f 100 & it uses less fuel than a L/C with a 1hz .

Lots of TV ads touting great run out deals on Cruisers of all shapes and sizes. You'd have to lay money that something is on the way. Speculation is that it just another over-sized look-alike Hi-Lux and kiss good bye to the beam axles.

I didn't read anything about saying goodbye to the live axles. I beleive they are keeping that part, at least in the utes and troopies.

I just took delivery of a new 2006 RV TD Troopy.
No hassles at all, It was ordered in Aug built to order and delivered in October with factory lockers.
No comments made about no stock or availability??
And no comment about new models to come from the dealer other than they had no idea about what was happening.

Back to the original question.... apparently they'll look similar, with a wider track and a wider chassis to fit the v8.
Will retain the leaf/coil combination as per '79..
Nil airbags for the first model run, but airbags to come for the miners at a later date.
Secondhand heresay from 4wd mag, so don't shoot me if they are wrong
