Hi Doug,
I know that I will be corrected if wrong but I believe that SD05 is an abreviation for Super Diggers. We have run them on our pathfinder for 3 sets of tyres and love them. Good mileage, quiet, and grip. We don't do much off road but the back end of the Pathy is twitchy without a load in the back and these things fix it.
Super Diggers were dicontinued about 8 years ago and replaced by Yok. with Geolanders. We were one of the mugs that bought them and got 18,000 km out of a set costing just on $1000. There was a general outcry and Yok resurected the SD.
There is an irony in this story. We were up for a new set about 4 months ago. No SD in the country but Yok told the dealer there would be in 1 to 2 months. 4 months on the story is the same - a 2 month wait. Through the dealer talking to Yok I am informed that SD may not be around for much longer - discontinued to Australia.
We went to Pirelli out of desperation last week.
For your info SD retail for about $210 a case when available and again say we could not have been happier with our experience with Super Diggers.
Good Luck

SKI er
Thanks for your reply , you say the SD means Super Digger but these Tyres I seen in Tyre Power were not an aggressive looking tread so they probably wouldn't dig to good not that I want a tyre to do any digging. Why I queried the brand was that I know one of the Heavy Haulage company's has started using them on his trailers and one of those trailers is a platform with 10 rows of 8 = 80 tyres and at the cost of that lot there must be some good in Yokohama's,

Hi Doug & Dusty,
You are right, the Super Digger is not an agressive looking tread pattern its an all terrain and probably mainly highway tyre.
There was probably some Jap somewhere in Yok marketing that said great name for an tyre for the Oz market. "Super Digger."
Anyway, good tyre.... wish w could have continued the association....we hope that the Pirelli do the job as
well for a while.
Regards
