Yer I know its early but suddenly I feel sort of Christmassy, so I penned this, apologies for those not mentioned, apologies to those who ARE mentioned.
This years submission, I place my creative soul into your hands - be gentle
Twas the night before Christmas, and all thru the
forum
Advice was free flowing, with the goal to inform
There was good natured ribbing, and advice tongue in cheek
And posts here online, some no place for the meek
But the info dished out, day by day, post by post
Was of value to all, I would even say most
You see Roachie,
well meaning, had fitted a Fitch
To the truck with the most, we expected a glitch
He proceeded to tell, the results of this fare
In the end he discarded, cause he’d no space to spare
Who knows how Annette, The Queen of Anzacs
Puts up with his spending on all his knick-knacks?
There is also Des Lexic in SA with Elaine
Who makes him look good, for that much is plain
And Willem and Judith who run
Peterborough
He drives far offroad and his planning it’s thorough
Also Pesty and Muddy, TrevorR, some to name
Also MN 1 his screen name is his fame
And Lucy, an Honorary Croweater to boot
His Troopy is packed even tighter with loot
Every trip an adventure, with Dierdre to share
If it stays in one piece, maybe he will get “there”
With his trailer on fire, brakes too hot to touch
Goes to
Kangaroo Island, comes home, tells TOO MUCH!
And Gramps he chimes in at all times, on all things
He keeps us all honest, and humour he brings
Yo Redback, in Disco, we all knew him as Baz,
And Duncs in the
Hill a Fire Station he has
Where he invites you to come, to sit there alone
Cause he answers a call, to a fire, he is honed
Outback Challenge this year saw EO in full FOURce
Crazie and Bonz, Al and Lucy of course
And JohnR called along, lo Duncs lives down the road
Broken clutches, hit roos, there’s always an Ode
As there is with all trips, where EO is involved
Driving all manner of vehicles highly evolved
All are welcome, come one, come ten, come all
Guaranteed these adventures you WILL have a ball
We have Doug, from the West, in another Toyota
If they sell just one more, surely they’ve hit their quota
Kununurra Oldsquizzy and Nick, Andrew B
Richard Kovac and Bilbo, GU with a V
That’s only a few, a huge mob in the West
Who this year played AFL football the best
And in Vic we’ve just had and election of sorts
JohnR, apolitical, that’s what he purports
Some posts rumbled, groaned, ALP or the Libs
And each time we sat up and put on our bibs
We fired back and
forth and Jimbo put his slant
And many joined it, it resembled a rant
But its all over now, status quo it remains
And whoever is in, the buggers are pains
This year Lyn was forty, EO came to share
In her celebrations, though no donuts this year
For Rockcrawler behaved, he was told that he must
And that skirt that Jen wore, seemed to show off her bust
But BigKidz we all were, nee midnight, jumping castle
Mrs Tooney, Jen, Bonz, Crazie causing a hassle
But again we had fun, for we’d just been away
So too had been Glenn, to
the desert to stay
But he lost lots of
water, and a post it was raised
And with phonecalls, local knowledge, the day it was saved
And the
forum this year has seen many a topic
No shoelaces this year, methinx Trucksters got soppy
We wrestled dilemmas, some important some not
Some post they were jovial, some,
well just HOT!
For we bite and we wrestle and sometimes we scratch,
and we preen, cuddle, kiss and raw nerves we do patch
Tis the nature of public discussions, you bet
In the end we remember it’s only the net
When we meet face to face we see none have grown horns
We share love of the bush and the outback and lawns
Such is the power of the place called EO
You can be a member, it don’t cost much dough
But be member, or lurker, or a casual look
You’ll come back time again, so click mark in your book
Cause David he puts, lots of work, lots of time
To make what we have here, entertaining, sublime
EO’s growing, we know, he has put on more lackeys
Need a book? Need to
shop? Take a look here at Jackie’s
Michelle and the kids, must seldom get to see him
So she works with him too, together a team.
Warraweena it beckons, 2007
The Aussie Outback, it’s our own slice of heaven
Our national gathering, where EO congregates
And we all get a chance, to catch up with our mates
This year there was much for the folk here to do
Things bought for our trucks to be hid from the shrew
Who be called SWMBO, its pronounced “schwoombo”
Who’s not half as scary when she’s in the know
And before I complete this years waffle and pop
I must take a minute to sit back, to stop
And to think and to thank those who care to reply
In the minds of the askers, esteem is held high
And to Jo, known as Teabags; to Mark, He’s the Cup
Hope that things all improve. Hope that alls on the up
And ere I exclaim as I slip out of sight
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!
