would anyone know the best way to remove a stuck bolt on a 98 navara , i am trying to remove the drivers side lower control arm after it snapped the other day and done some damage, nissan have a new one for $200 , but i need to remove the damaged lwr cont arm. The bolt that i cant seem to remove is the one where the end of the torsion bar locates onto the spline type head of the bolt wich holds the rear half of the lwr cont arm. i hav been spaying wd40 type products on it since saturday , hammered it extreemly hard and even put a bottel jack horizontly between the two pivot points of the lwr cont arm ,left it all night under pressure in an attempt to push this one bolt out . any help would be most welcome.
thanks in advance. Grant 98 nav

Go to a Auto Accessory and get a special Tie Rod End remover, about $20 at Supercheap , a very handy little tool to have ,

Assuming you have the room to get to it, a hex-head socket and a air-driven rattle gun should do the trick, if you don't have them most workshops will. If you use heat though, be careful as if you heat the spring steal of the torsion bar you may bugger it.

Cheers

I agree with all the above but would advise that the socket be a SINGLE hex not double...most rattle gun kits use only single hex.....regards Phil

If you can get a heavy hammer to rest against one side of the spline where the bolt is then give the opposite side a good hit with an equally heavy hammer this may pop it out.

thanks for the ideas everyone, just been down to ferntree gully nissan a mate introduced me to 2 mechanics there they both cant understand why it wont tap through , they suggest that its possably bent , but said not to heat it with oxy as it would most likely melt the bush sleeve to the chassy mount.
PLEASE KEEP SUGGESTIONS COMING
THANKS AGAIN GRANT

If its a taper you'll have to remove it the way it goes in.

yep , the only bolt left in is the one where the torsion bar butts onto, the other bolt closer to the front is free enough to slide in and out. i have even put a bottle jack in between the two pivot points and pumped it up untill i was two worried to pump anymore. but the torsion bar is compleatly removed from the lower cont arm . ANY OTHER IDEAS .Thanks Heaps Grant

Don't use heat unless you REALLY have to. You often find with heat, that after heating and the subsequent cooling, the parts actually tighten up and make things worse.

With heat, you only get one chance.

thanks for the advice. all i can come up with is the bolt must be bent slightly and just wont slide out i have been trying to turn it with a tool i ended up making using the other fitting that came off the end of the torsion bar and now i have been able to turn the bolt but it took heaps of force and now the rubber bush is torn and turning with it.
