Good news folks!!!!!
I have just put the phone down after chatting with the main man at Bunbury Fuel Injection and it would seem all the cylinder compressions are fine ranging from 495 - 500 whereas in new motor they generally lie between 500 and 510 so that is considered fine. Not sure if that is measured in PSI or lumps of sugar but they seem happy enough with that.
The EGT is up tho and the injectors are apparently not happy with overfueling being a problem So will have those repaired, stick it back on the dyno and see where we go from there.
I feel a lot richer today than I did on Friday.
Elephant stamps for those that diagnosed injectors but always a bit difficult doing blind diagnosis. With all your help, I was however surprised at how cheap you can actually source a new engine for these vehicles. I would certainly replace rather than repair if anything was broken internally.
I'll keep you informed where we end up but much happier now :-)
Thanks to all for the input....
Ciao for now

John
Good to hear your engine is fine,
mine now has 651000 on the clock and between the 10,000 oil change I might add 500ml of oil.
And where would you get another Engine if needed, I priced a new 1HZ at Bell & Moir in Mt Isa at $12000 ,but I feel I could do better in a big City, and probably would look at the newer engine with Turbo already on it, I have not made any queries on that except that i have been told it will bolt straight in .

Hi Doug,
Yep, liker your motor, I was expecting a lot more life from this relatively
young engine of 166km and am pretty relieved at the outcome as I am a bit attached to the old 1HZ. It's probably one of the few diesels left on the market that you can really wield a spanner on if it goes wrong.
My son has a 100 series with a turbo 1HZ and that is a joy to drive so whilst the technology may be a bit old and there are higher performance motors available, these do the job reasonably
well.
As for price, I was able to get a brand new, in the crate, 1HZ long motor for about $7k in the end thanks to the EO family and having all those eyes and ears out there.
Many thanks for the thoughts........

Cruiserman
I had one of the old box troopies years ago with a 3.6H motor that died in a similar manner, but that one did die - actually through glazing up withtwo many short runs and not enough hard work - so I probably jumped the gun a bit here and feared the worst.
Now I have to think what toy I can buy myself with all the money I have just saved LOL :-)

Sam,
After watching "Hannibal" on telly the other night with his hefalumps crossing the italian alps, brings a whole new meaning to "Elephant Stamps" methinks.
Congrats on the diagnosis..............
