HI Troopy owners

The standard Troopy comes beautifully prepared with simple vertical front door pulls and ... you guessed it... no arm rests.

Most of us get by without them to the point that a mate and his wife could not remember whether theirs had arm rests or not.

No rests was too much of a culture shock. So wnet about finding anything that might suffice. As luck would have it my fist attempt was to buy Nissan Pulsar rear door armrests from local wrecker. They looked right and would be simple to bolt in - just drill a couple of holes...

It was better than that. The wrecker offered me the screws and their square plastic lugs. Thought it would do no harm to take them. Total transaction cost for the pair $11.

On removing the Troopy's door trim there turned out to be two Perfectly Spaced Perfectly angled square mounting holes that fitted the two plastic lugs - yep ... perfectly. All I had to do was accurately drill the srew holes in the vinyl door trim.

When making your purchase, check carefully to make sure the vinyl skin is not separating from the foam. The Pulsar model is the one sold throughout the 1990s. The rest is about 8 inches long, flat U-shaped (so your fingers wrap around it ) and it also becomes your door pull. The original door pull will need to be removed. One of the holes is covered but the other is on display and could be filled by a button.

Mine have been in use now for about 6 months

Best regards and thanks again for recent help
Chris

Chris

You are a Gem Mate, been waiting for this since I bought the Troopy in 2000.

Spent a 'few hours' codgitating on the problem without a solution.

Pick-a-part here I come.

Thanks again.

You! sir have just confirmed what I always suspected, and that is:

You are a Missin-Nissan, owner/driver who has 2 of those 'short legs' , because you couldn't be that silly playing with one.

Traveller,
only the RV model "Poverty Pack" has the luxury of arm rests.
I've got the standard "Ultimate Hose-out Poverty Pack" 79series and no arm rests.

Chris has given me inspiration to visit the wreckers for one of these luxury items. Actually I've got two kids with pulsars - must check their rear doors :-))

Phil
I forgot to add too that late 80's/early 90's Suzuki Swift / Holden whatever door pockets match nearly perfectly with the beige trim, I 'think' they are available in grey too.
They even have a groove to line up with the groove in the cruiser door trims.
From 'memory' they were less than $12 each brand new from a dealer including the mounting hardware!
I intend to pm you re the Madigan line soon too.

Phil

Take no notice of the nissan owner diatribe that has and may continue to show its uninformed face on this post.

When the aforementioned Nissan diatribers come out of their holes the following comes to mind:

The gene pool could use a little chlorine.

I luv then actually because they are such tunnel visioned fertile material. (ROFLMAO)
