Hi guys,
I'm just after some places to purchase and fit Rancho shocks in Brisbane, pref Nthside. Also after some thoughts on after market springs for my GQ 3.0 Patrol.
Thanks in advance.

Would think again if you want to put Ranchos on your Patrol ,

Do a search , lots of unhappy customers . Guess the oil quantity and valving dont cut a fully loaded Patrol in real life.

Their famous 3 yr warranty doesnt mean much either.

Just replaced the crap with the latest Koni's and am so far very happy .

I'd agree 100% with this. mine blew 3 times before giving up.. and it wasnt 1 shock either.

Paul Geary Automotive 38083455 at Springwood fitted mine.
Adjustable 9000 with in-cab kit.
A couple were a bit tired and needed to be replaced after about 100,000km.
Couldn't be happier with the shocks.

My ones were smashed after going around OZ fully loaded .

Where is the warranty you may ask , 3yr unlimited km ?. If you are using a shock on a lifted vehicle , even if thats what it was designed for ,the warranty is void .

I reckon mine were gone after 40k , I drove a year with the shocks on max adjustment , after that asked some questions .

I liked the fact that they were adjustable.

If you want to spend that much money on a shock , save up a bit longer and at least get one that is rebuildable . As for adjustment , if it is valved correctly from the beginning it shouldnt need to be adjusted.

I have read the same thing about the RANCHO’s on Patrols due to the Coils working the shock harder when loaded up, then agene I have seen quite a few Patrols driving around with RANCHO’s fitted too, head plenty of storys about other Shock brands faling in a short time aswell

I have them on my Explorer have the 5000’s on the front with 2”-lift and The Adjustable 9000’s on the rear with 2.5”-lift and have no Complaints and the price was pretty good too. $205 for the 5000’s and $350 for 9000’s from memory. I leave the 9000's on setting 6 for evryday driving.

“If you are using a shock on a lifted vehicle, even if that’s what it was designed for ,the warranty is void .”

How can that be, If the Shock is one that is made for 2” lifted suspension how can it be voided when used on 2” lifted suspension, as the shock has no other application??

I contacted the place of purchase about the failure ,

I am not sure if they were still supplying them .

The guy gave me the talk about lifted vehicles informed me they couldnt help me and gave me the Rancho reps number .

This took about a month , by then I had the bleep s , threw them out and got Konis.

Thanks to everyone who gave advice/suggestions and experiences.
Prior to jumping on this site I'd searched the net and from the marketing it seemed Rancho where the only way to go.
I'd been told to stay away from the TJM XGS and even OME by some mates.
My driving would be probably 90% road unloaded but for the 10% offroad I'm willing to pay a little more for the right ride. I cant have the Kids DVD skipping and the wife unable to do her Suduko on the next Fraser trip lol

Now I have some serious considering to do in the Shock department any thoughts on quality springs ?
Thanks again guys.
Cheers
