Don't laugh Muddy, it will happen to you one day. It might be all lovey dovey now, but so was mine 16yrs ago, now she won't allow any "boy toys" if I ask. (So now I don't ask, and just go buy it. Things will settle in a month or two LOL!!)

So you can add me to that "bench" with MN1 and Bware.

Cheers, Trevor.

PS: no disrespect to "Muddies Doe" all T-I-C.

LOL Yeah, there was a member on this forum (have not seen him for a long while) who told me over the camp fire that it is best to just buy what you want, deal with the grumpyness for the week or two because after that, you've still got you new toy AND your missus. ;-)

Of course he strained it a bit one time when he came home with a BRAND NEW 4wd without telling her he was going to buy it! ROTL! But she got over it (eventually).

Hi Trevor

Unfortunately poor Muddy is reading what I'm writing and your replies. He hasn't got a clue what is going on but he will work it out eventually.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for boys and their toys because I love 4WDing and you can't get me packing or my butt on the seat of the 4BY quick enough.

A similar point on more or less the same thing was raised the other week. The local EOer ummmmed and arrrred over a household appliance (that would be constantly used) he bought an "on sale" one in the end. He admitted he then went home and used a "toy" that cost four/five times the amount of the appliance and he has only ever used it a few times.

Hi Bware

That's because you probably already have a lift kit......so no wonder you wouldn't trade her in. Oh well but then there ARE men out there who do have 2,3 or 4 and there is a certain EOer who will go unnamed, who had 5 things of one item yet he bought another one......probably because he can???..............lol

Thank You for the compliment.

Hey No 1

I have the opposite problem.

Out drive the last couple of times and the GPS was playing up a bit (probably also hitting wrong buttons) and she has asked if I need a new GPS.

Then when in shops last week she again asked if I need a new GPS and also offered to buy one. Now I know I was awake and very alert but me thinks there is something behind this, or maybe she appreciates me. Fool or what? Should I rush out and pick out the one I want?

Problem is theere are so many choices these days but I mainly use for off road mainly for tracks and hard making definite selection but looking at colour screen and may end up with Garmin 76C.

I was considering up to about $800. Any ideas?

You just need the right wife. I told mine she could have a shovel or a winch for Valantines Day first up. She went the winch but now refuses to dig. I didn't think that as a bad trade. I was looking at a GPS a few years ago and she got me the colour Garmen 176C that had just been released for Xmas. Don't know how much they were then but I was only looking to spend $800 and there was nothing like the one she got in that price range. She got into the swing of it then and has since added a set of Preditors and a HF radio to the truck. I just keep my mouth shut and don't annoy her comming up to Xmas. Helps that she likes the bush as much as me I suppose.

You're absolutely right, Steve. My wife loves the outdoors too and when I suggest that I'd like to do some remote travelling, her fear of getting bogged always prompts her to comment that, "We atleast need a winch before we do that", and I say, "We'll need a bullbar to put it on" ....It will all happen one day LOL

Trevor R (QLD) - Sorry no sisters
John L G - No her mother passed away in August and was a greta mother in law.

Bware - That may be the case as she is into craft stuff and the amount of gear/material etc that appears suddenly with a response of "I've had that for ages and told you about it" ploy.

With a very slow thought on my side I realise that I am the breadwinner and therefore the money she was going to spend was what I earned anyway, but then again whats mine is hers and whats hers is hers!:)))

Cheers

well I will stick up for the sisterhood (because I have to) and say they probably have thier reasons, like a lack of diamonds or needing something new for the house.
However having said that I have several things I would like to get my other half for xmas so maybe you blokes can help me work out which one,

winch?
gps and software for laptop?
roof rack?
lift kit? (not sure whether his or hers yet)

what do you think he would like best?

There wasn't much wrong with the old ACLA 5 burner. It got hot and made stuff go brown ... then black. What more do you need?

The new one has a hood, side burner (for what?), temperature gage, cupboards underneath etc etc.

The funny thing is that it was almost exactly the same ticket price as the old, plain, flat, wooden trolly, mild steel unit it is replacing, but that was bought with 1994 dollars.

Hell I'm all for the buy first and leave it to a" need to know basis" IE let them find it later ........... Tried the ask fisrt thingie that was painfull.

Worked well on my fishing gear over the years LOL I just buy a new rod and reel place in rack last one was there at least a year before she spotted it, not a lot i could say really ....hell lady its been there for ages thats an old outfit ....she just gives me that look ....... "i know yeah bullsh&tin me but cannot prove it" I just smile and move on LOL.

Albiet I'm working on a plan to air con the house that way she will stay inside and I'll fit out the 4x4 as the good lady is not into that stuff, WHICH is a real pity I must say :( but that here choice.

Hell its all fun and games till someone gets hurt :) or caught lol pain only last a short time, boys toys last for ages and takes away the pain:)

Already have the 40 l Engel, she wants a dual battery system next, then rock sliders/side steps, roof console to put her handbag, then I can do whatever I want.

I always seem to win arguments about the car because she doesn't know what each thing is! I just say "the GQ needs it" and that's the end of it. Mind you I've already bought her a CT, made her a kitchen for it and spent several weekends modifying it just for her.
