89 GQ TI DIESEL HI ROOF

Just purchased a GQ - 175000 k & one owner from Tumut - rust free - only needed a tidy up and a good service + a new radiator . Jobs now done - I remember these vehicles coming out new to Oz. - weren't all that popular , in fact heard that Nissan sent some number of them back to Japan unsold. Doesn't phase me as it is what it is - Am not all that familiar with the truck and was wondering if some of the more experienced GQ users could give me a few pointers. Nothing in particuliar just general info. and what to keep an eye out for. Heard there is a steering mod. that can be done to give better driveability. Any comment would be appreciated.
