I am travelling from
Lake King to
Norseman on the 8th Dec, can anyone tell me if the gravel road from
Lake king to the
Coolgardie-
Esperance road is suitable to tow a normal 16 foot caravan on. I will be towing it with a Patrol, and can not decide if I should stick to the tar or save the 100 plus Km's. Would be grateful for road conditions advice.
Thanks

I haven't travelled it for a few years now, but I reckon you'll been fine on that road.
Just don't expect to go fast.
Cheers

We usually go from
Lake King through the Frank Hann NP, nice drive, can be a bit pot holed, but still not problem. We even came back in April through a downpour; muddy, but even slowing down and dodging the worst potholes, it was still a time saving for us.
We have also been through the
Norseman to
Hyden (new) road for variety - again a nice drive with a tourist trail marked, but you have to share it with the mining road trains - it is their road.

Peter,
I was through there in October without towing anything. There were several 2WD's making their way along it quite happily.
I thought it was a bit rougher than the more northern route via
Hyden to
Norseman, and didn't find it terribly enjoyable travelling - but certainly doable - like is said here many times - if you drive to your setup and road conditions.
Part of the lack of enjoyment had nothing to do with the road, the scenery is pretty sparse.
