I have a JNC, which is a cheap Chinese brand and so far it's OK, 19 inch widescreen.

I don't mount it on the wall of the van though because I reckon the vibrations woulod kill it. We pack it up and lay it on the bed during travel.

Notso, I reckon you are right with the vibrations. With a mounting they would feed all the way up the arm to the components. Even onroad vans would have some vibrations fed through. Kim would get thumps through to any mounting and the TV/DVD as well as vibrations.

Samsung LS15N13W
Manufactured Jan 2004. Runs thru it's own power supply OR direct off 12v caravan battery.
Hasn't missed a beat (touchwood)...
And no doubt has been superceded a number of times.
Couldn't be happier with it- runs daily as when it's not in the van, it's in the kitchen while SWMBO cooks dinner etc. and probably averages a couple of hours use every day.
Cheers

Hi BBB,

We've had a Dick Smith branded one (DSE G3810 15") for almost two years. I believe it's a Samsung under the skin.

It's been mounted on an articluated arm to allow bed-end and kitchen-end viewing and we secure it back to a padded window palmet with a strong bungie when travelling, which also takes a lot of the weight off the arm. No problems at all so far, which would have included something like 30,000km across northern OZ in that time and several hundred kms of unsealed roads. Thoroughly recommended.

I will second that. We have the same model which we took with us on our around Oz trip. We did not tow a van, but when not in use it was packed in bubble wrap and put into one of those large laptop computer carry bags. It never missed a beat. Still working even after copping some water when the fresh water tank lid was left off and water leaked into the plastic box where it lived. Very happy with ours.

Hi BBB

It is hard to find one that is a true 12v DC unit and will take the knocks.

Our LCD TV's were designed for buses but I still recommend 'Tucking it away' on rough roads. Like the others have said the best place is under the doona. Just don't sit on it.

Regards

Derek.

Hi Derek, wish I saw yours before I spent $600 + on my 12v as it is only TV and not DVD as well,it is great all the same and I do protect it from vibrations and look forward to a few more years service out of it yet (hopefully) I have had terrific service from you in the past
