I have two gas lights and both within a few months have develpoed the same problem. They light OK but when I turn them up brighter they get a yellow flame around the mantle but don't get brighter. I have changed mantles on both and used different makes and also used used different gas bottles. I don't therefore believe the problem to be gas or a bad batch of mantles.

Any ideas?

Sounds like you may not be getting enough air in, andjust burning gas.
Under the mantle, or light, there should be a system for taking air in and mixing it with the gas.

Try cleaning the gas jet, or get a replacement.

One time with a kero pressure lamp a mud wasp had built a nest in the air intake.

Pauls, get yourself a versa light, just as bright and only uses .75 amps from a 12v battery also there are LED rechargable versions about. Better than those fiddley gas amntels.
I used to have a handle on life, but it broke.

Cheers Dodg.

A grain of sand or similar has probably found its way into your jet. Clean jet or replace. It happens very often if camping near the beach with a bit of wind around.
