I want to thank everyone who replied to my "what's that sound" thread..esp to Uncle who seems to have had the answer for me, I heard it again this morning but couldn't see the bird.
I would like to take the opportunity to clear up a few matters though:
Des - I wouldn't mind if he learnt to play the bagpipes, he's threatened a few times, I know he's done some low flying in the past, I didn't realise just how much high flying he must be doing!
Andrew: The sound is definitely external, my hearing aide is not that sensitive
Jim: A lost haggis this far south and on flat ground...remember that haggis' run around hills in the highlands chased by wee men with one leg longer than the other called haggis bashers, this may require further investigation, it could be a black pudding!
Jimbo: I did say the sound was melodious!
and finally...Ole Grizzly, believe me I'm not attracted, more mystified....
thanks everyone, you all made me smile.....yes...Anderew even you!
cheers
Lyn

Then again.....maybe its your concience humming at you.....LOL

Hi Willie,
a bird could do that, when I was a kid and we holidayed down the coast there was a dove nearby who would start up every morning, this is a bit like that, I heard it this morning as I passed the pine trees, I don't think it's a bull frog...but then I haven't seen it yet so I don't know for sure..
and it's great to smile...
Lyn

Hi Al,and good morning.Glad to be of some help, we have a new one up here this morning, the woo hoo bird or christmas bird we call him. I'm not sure of the correct name yet but he's a smaller black bird, similar in size to a pee wee, and now wakes us up at 3 or 4 in the morning!
Lucky for him there's no one around with a shot gun! cya.lol
