I'm planning for a few days away on the Yorke Peninsula this summer and looking at my map there are a couple of locations that look promising. They are Tiparra rocks, the bamboo's and the gap. All are close together on the west coast just south of moonta. Has anyone visted these and if so what are they like? i'm after a quite spot to camp on the beach with the CT and a young family, swimming ect.

G'day Phil,
That area is quite okay, but you will get the hot winds (if they are about). Also, that area is popular so don't expect any solitude.
Other places to consider would be further down, around the Corny Point area or you could go to the "heel" about 11klm south west of Edithburgh, where you can camp with the beach on one side and the 55 towers of the adjacent windfarm on the other side. We camped there recently and all was good (but there were a few flies about.

Further back up the eastern side, there is a good stretch of beach just north of Tiddy Widdy village (known as Tiddy Widdy beach....). Good camping there on the beach too........in fact our club (the YP 4WD Club of which I am currently the el Presidento...LOL) is camping there this weekend with members of the Riverland Club, capably led by their fearless leader.....the one and only Mr Des Lexic!!!

If you need any further info you can give me a call on 0414 890 148.

Cheers

Roachie

Hi Phil100 We were down the YP for a week in July staying with friends on their farm in Warooka, as Roachie has stated there are quite a few lovely spots down that area, Corny Point is a lovely spot, also we like Turton. We were over there at the time the Sea Horses all washed up on the beach, there were hundreds of them it was quite sad to see, you have to wonder why they these things happen.

Hope you enjoy your stay down there, we always do.

Cheers

Hi Phil100,

Innes National park at the bottom end is always worth a look, lots of camping spots, Gym beach is a bit more secluded but if in School holidays the whole YP can get busy.

Port Victoria has some lovely beaches southwards and a jetty to fish off.

Have fun

If I was you Phil I would make Kadina my centre of operations.

It has everything you need and is within an hour or two of all things to see and do.

It is bush fire proof and filled with just fabulous peolple.

The local beach at Wallaroo is sensational and magnificent for sand driving, just a bit tricky when trying to find the Moonta exit though.

AND

Its home to a bunch of EO members/participants.

Can't get any better than that.

Wasn't too impressed with the caravan park at Kadina when we were there. Too many permanents who "own" the park. Wallaroo was better, if you can get in.

I'd take the Kadina option especially in Roachie's backyard. Free rent, free food, free booze, kids to keep you amused and Roachies efforts in working on his new truck would provide anyone with hysterical entertainment.
Best part about this reply is that Roachie can't respond at the moment.

Well I wasn't going to lag him in, but now that you mention it 'Casa al Roachie' is very nice indeedy.

Kadina, the centre of SA.

Yorke Penninsular, home to the worlds best - Chef, Fisherman, cabinet maker, banker , astronomer, staone mason.

Actually I thinkl its the centre of Australia - warm , dry, calming breezes , no pollution, no flies, no cockroaches, no termites, cheap fuel, cheap land, no taxes, hospitality second to none.

If you dobt me, just ask Roachie.

That could be a mistake, bumping into Roachie and the boys from the YP 4x4 Club at Kadina.

Seriously, I bumped into some of them last year, and thoroughly enjoyed myself, a very helpfull and gr8 mob.
If you get a chance to stir up Bill Roach ( ect ) pls do so , you will not regret it
Did you hear that Roachie, I am praising you !
Cheers Bucky
