I have a '98 100 series , 1hz diesel (aftermarket Turbo), with R151F Gearbox. Gearbox needs major overhaul. I wanted to put in a heavier box H151F / H150F. Looking for advise and or other ppls experience in this process. Vehicle is used for work with up to 1/2 tonne in the back and also tow heavy trailers. wanting to maybe at a later date (when$$$$ avail) to a motor conversion. I have dont a fair few mods to vehicle and have it set up just how i want it ( nearly anyway!!!!). Keep it real. looking forward to your replies Regards Kirsten

Hi Kirsten
I dont know of any one that has done that conversion, but the H151F Has the same gear ratios as this is the gearbox used in the 78 &79 series

Should be more heavy duty as it is intended for heavy work being a comercial model Landcruiser

I think they have a different input shaft as well as having beefed up internals, exterier are the same, dont know about your vintage ratios compared to 78/79 series but they are now different between std deisel and turbo

Do a search on here, it was done a while ago.And yes I believe it can be done, believe you have to change the clutch and flywheel over and bolt it up.I looked into this and this is my plan if my gearbox ever goes.
How many kays has yours done??

Got a Hi5iF (heavy) box from Vic. Box is so much bigger. Looks like the bell housing is different and wrecker, who told me conversion can be done, is looking into it for me (thinks bell housing is from a petrol!!, however box is from a 4.2TD '03 100Ser). Looks like will have to alter drive shafts, not sure about Input shafts etc. My beaut wagon has almost done 240k. i love it! I did a search and ran out of time reading the results. Unfortunately could not find what i was looking for! Many thnx for the replies. ANY MORE NEWS KEEP ME POSTED! regards Kirsten
