Is "Whereis" software any good?

As the title says, is the Whereis ver. 13 software any good, if a navigation device is using Whereis pre-loaded on the SD card supplied, can other software be used?

All car manufacturers offering Sat Nav as an option use the Whereis maps, infact I think Whereis is the only road based mapping software in Australia.
