Volvo 4WD
I'm seeking info about old HiLux traybacks.
I've bought a 1984 HiLux 4WD with a styleside trayback. The trayback is rusted right through in the bottom and the sides. I tried to find a suitable (cheap) ute-liner, without success.
I intend to replace the trayback with a used flat tray.
It's a 1984 model, so I'm guessing that any tray from a 1984 - 1988 single cab will fit. I'm wondering if a tray from any other model will fit the 1984 single cab?
Any responses would be appreciated.
V.

I think all the trays of the correct dimensions can be easilt modified to suit, just by changing the mounts underneath?

Hi
Years ago i was chasing a new styleside and went to Leo Muller they gave me a brand new styleside for $200 there were heaps there as in those days the styleside came standard and if one wanted a tray it was extra.
Try the wreckers or a wanted add.

With minor mods a tray off a cruser or nissan (or most 4x4,s for that matter) will be able to fit. dont worry about the year just go on the diamentions of the tray. very basic fit up..........666TOY

I have seen old hiluxs with brand new trays (ute style) on them. I have a feeling that all the mounting points are in a similar if not the same positions. If this is the case, this would enable you to get a new or second hand tray of any year and fit it to your model. I would ring someone like tip top table tops or someone that makes the trays and ask them. They should be able to tell you if the positions of the mounts are the same. You could also try ringing toyota. Last resort would be to visit the wrecker with tape measure and crawl over a few hiluxs and measure them up.
