Hi folks,
Many months ago I read a post about disabling the chimes that occur when a 2005 lux door is open and the key is in the ignition. Somehow a code can be entered which stops the annoying beeps.
Did a search but unable to locate it. Can anyone help please.
Cheers,
Paul
PS. please excuse my lack of acknowledgements to any answers submitted tonight.........I'm off to bed.

Thanks Erwin, quite a lot of info there.
Appears to be more about
seat belt alarm rather than ignition key, will try it later.
Appreciate your response.

Correction:
Appears to be more about
seat belt alarm rather than ignition key/door alarm.

Paul, sing out if you have any more questions. I'm not aware of any codes, but I've pulled a couple of plugs and retained my sanity.
Cheers,
John

Thanks John,
I'm a bit reluctant to pull plugs as I don't want to lose the alarm altogether; is helpful to be reminded the lights are on etc. before leaving the vehicle.
Will try disabling through codes first.
Thanks,
Paul

Pulling the plugs under the
seat and from the ignition bolt only stops the chiming if you don't have your seatbelt on, or you leave the key in the ignition and open the door.
By all means go the code route. I was unaware that you could do this - my dealer only told me to pull the plugs. They seemed genuinely unaware of any codes. Maybe the CFA bloke has a better hotline to Toyota!!

There was a fellow on the forums.overlander.com.au site who helped with this code. It was to help the CFA guys, who got really annoyed with the chimes. He didnt post the code on the site, but helped via pm. That site is down at the moment, but when it is on-line, just do a search.

Check out www.newhilux.net there is info on the
forum there to get rid of the
seat belt buzzer and the key in ignition buzzer, and they do work, I have stopped these buzzers on my lux and life is now much better.
