Hi there,
Just enquiring about what size of tyre you guys are putting on your 100 landcruisers (that will still fit underneath as a spare)? I am thinking of Cooper ST or AT's - something with a bit of height would be good. A phone call to the local tyre place recommended 275 70 17's. What are your thoughts? (By the way - 17" alloys.)

thanks in advance,

dave.

With a 2" lift I'm running 285X75X16 BFG Muds. The spare fits underneath but it's a bugger to get out with a flat so on long trips I carry an extra on the roof.

we got a 2'' in the front and suppose to have 3'' in the back but not sure f that!!....use ultima big bore shocks and king springs....got them put in cheap and bought cheap off a guy who needed business....paid $750 installed!!

It's the Darren McRae ATS4X4 setup done by Maquarie 4X4.
ARB springs and torsion bars. Bilstein shocks. 1" front diff drop. ARB bracketed and welded lower control arms.
Was about $2,800.

The spare 285X75X16 tyre with this setup sits high enough in the body cavity for the lower front of the tyre to sit above the rear diff.

Dave,

I've gone Coopers ST, 265/70/16 - by narrowing 10mm I can fit snow chains on the front and they don't foul brakes/suspension.

I've heard (manual also states) not to put chains on the front due to fouling, although I haven't witnessed this first hand.

I have an 80 series with the same spare wheel set up. To save the spare wheel being exposed I use a 238/85X16 as it has the same circumference as the 265/75X16 road wheels but does not hang down like the 265's. Maybe you could do something similar with your wheels.

LC105 with 2 inch lift, 305/70R16 STT with a spare slung underneath. Bottoms out occasionally on the spare but it's not a big deal. Prefer that to having to swing it out of the way every time I want to open the rear doors plus it keeps the weight lower. Previously had 285/75R16 ST and it bottomed out occasionally with that width too. A second spare on the roofrack when we're further out. Casper

Hi Dave,

We have a LC 100 T/D and run BFG A/T's 285x75x16 didn't raise suspension as the tyres don't rub on anything. Have done 115,000 k's with the same size tyres. Hope that helps.
