CRAIG's Hut lost
Looks like one of our icon's
Craig's hut near Mt Stirling
has been lost to the fires.
Certainly played a part in our lives from decades ago before it was
even fenced , thru to when a friend got married there with
his bride ariving by chopper and the groom in a white patrol.
To a couple of weeks go when we were dismayed at the parallel
parking
efforts made there to cater for the increasing crowds.

LOL John 16.26 hrs compared to 16.46 hrs, 20 Min's difference by my reckoning. Maybe you need to clean your glasses.
Cheers

Not an historical icon sure - but accessible to all - and an insight into what it was like "way back then". My husband has just recently completed a fantastic painting (minus surrounding fences) - just waiting for a frame now, and it will be another one up on the wall - need to build bigger house just to accommodate all his paintings and my photos.
A bit thanks to the firies and all others who are helping in thsi dire emergency -
well done!! Keep up the good work.

Way back when in 1986 when they built it in a spot no sane cattleman would have ever put a hut?
On the
bright side the painting probably just doubled in value....
And what's the bet they have no problem getting a permit to rebuild that one where we struggle to get other huts with real historic value and actual emergency accommodation value rebuilt.

Craigs isn't high on my list of huts, a bit 'commercial / fake' for my liking. but, it was worth calling past if in the area for a photo and look at the view.
It won't be long before it is rebuilt ;)

I spent a little bit of time wandering around that part of the world.
I'll always remember
Craig's Hut for the view.
Maybe it's best that it doesn't get built for a few years - let the novelty wear off, then start again and let it be the quiet place it was.

Hi John
Steve (above ) looks on the money , within hours of its loss I have already heard the
Mansfield shire president saying that it attracted > 35,000 visitors to the area and he will ensure it is quickly re-built.
Being not to historic will probably help the process
