Hi all,
I have to fit some flares to my 80 series. What is the forum's opinion of them? I am considering the ones that take the wire and are about 60 mm wide. Do they tear off or sag over time and look bleep e? Or should I go the fiberglass ones from TJM? Do the TJM ones need paining to stop fading and chalking or can you leave them black?
Thanks

Hi Shaggy

I have the narrow ones on my 80 with 33" MTR's and they just fit under and they still cleanup well even after laying it on it side.

I bounce of too many trees and rocks to have fibreglass ones.

Have fun

I had flexi flares on my prado 120 series. loved them.

flexi Flares from Bushranger are a rip off... I found them cheaper @ Don Kyatts, purchased by the metre.

A few pics n tips of the install process:

Gidday there.
I have the wide Flexi's on my GQ as the tyres were a bit past the guards.
They were on sale and therefore much cheaper than 'glass or plastic units. I have grazed them against quite a few things (trees, sheds, fences) trying to get through tight areas with no worrying about damage.
The only issue I have had with them has been the wires are a bit of a pain to get set properly. I persisted to get them just right (I am a fitter) but over time and a bit of external massaging, the front wires have worked there way out about 20mm. I chopped them back so prevent catching on people and clothes and they haven't moved since.

I wouldn't have anything else if you really want to use your vehicle. They do not look factory but who cares. At least I still have them.
They are also easy to get sticky black mud off too as they bend easily and the mud just drops off.

If you want the showroom look go 'glass.
Cheers.
