This CD is currently on special for $39.95 and includes maps of 80+ SA Country towns and almost all the necessary OziExplorer .map files (it is missing .map files for Andamooka, Coober Pedy and Roxby Downs).

I bought one for work because I do a lot of country travel. The coverage is comprehensive but the quality of the mapping is very poor. You would do better to purchase the paper directory and scan the maps yourself. I rang up today to question the poor quality and was told that it was the best that would be provided. The maps are a digital output from their mapping system and according to the person I spoke too the quality has been kept deliberately low to aid in fast loading. See the example of Mount Gambier below:

!MPG:14!

Note the Ozi Zoom level = 100%

He suggested reducing the zoom level to reduce the pixelated appearance - but then you can't read the street names.

I suspect that the quality has been kept low to block people wanting to reproduce the maps.

I summary, steer clear of this product unless you need it (as I do) and have no other choice.

I emailed Fullers and got this reply:

Hello Peter,
Thankyou for your interest. I'm not sure who you spoke to previously but you weren't given the complete story . Fullers has been the best option as it contained not just the Adelaide metro area but a large number of country towns as well and at the time of release ONLY the Fullers could be run in OziExplorer in regard to SA data. The competition has since recently modified their available products so it is possible to use OziEx with some of them.

The quality we are using at the moment is determined by the limitations of the older software we employ which must convert from a specific vector data to a suitable raster format. The older software unfortunately requires older machines, with all their memory and speed limitations, to run on. The current raster image size was determined as the best compromise available to us with our current technology. After the next paper edition of Fullers is released we will be porting our data to a much more sophisticated and up-to-date software system which amongst other benefits will allow us to output higher resolution images from the available data. However that is not going to provide a new product in the CD range in the immediate future. The new version of the CD is unlikely to be available until the second half of next year. When it is released it will contain a number of new towns plus an improved "road atlas" section covering the main settled areas of the state setup ready for use in OziExplorer.

I apologise for the inconvenience but we are constantly working to improve the data in terms of area covered, details included and presentation.

Yep, shoddy product, but it does do what it promised - after a fashion. On balance for what I want it is better than nothing, but if I went again I would get the paper copy until they fix up the CD.
