Any one got the Prado with the New T/D in the auto?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts!

Cheers

Andrew,

I’ve just traded in a current model manual for a new run out auto Prado.

It’s taken me a bit of time to get use to the auto, but can report it’s a far smoother drive with the five speed box.

I suspect there will also be better fuel performance. Only time will tell.

My only concern is engine braking on an incline (which I haven’t had the opportunity to test yet.

Regards

Kim

Kim, I have a new T/D Prado Grande and the down hill assist is incredible when driving down steep hills, you will luv it.

Cheers Peter

Yes - the manual box teamed with a diesel is a huge bonus - brake pads seem to last forever and in low range, I have to use some throttle to get the Jack down the steepest hills - losing this in an auto might be a snag - I won't be buying a Grande for those many extra $ - maybe the DH assist is not available on the GXL - and anyway, how does DHA actually work ?

Andrew,

Further to my earier post. There was one thing I forgot to mention with the new model.

They come with those silly roof rails (GXL). The dealer told me there are several screw points in the roof that will need to be sealed if you decide to install a full roof rack.

Don't know if this true, but you should speak to dealer about it.

Those silly racks utilise the same bolt holes that your normal roof bars or full racks bolt onto. Unless you were fitting only a pair of bars rather than three or a full rack then there would be nothing to seal.
