hi i have a 2006 patrol ute 4.2td.i have had the car back to nissan 4 times to have the air conditioning fixed.every time you hit about 100klms/ph or when the car gets hot the aircon cuts off.it has never worked properly since new.nissan have changed several parts but now say it is normal to cut off regularly, but in only 30 degree temp it runs average at about 5 minutes in an hour.any help would be greatly appreciated, especially since its still under warranty.thanks dave

Take it to an AirCon expert and have them check your system. Take the findings to Nissan and apply a little more pressure... Make sure you let the aircon guy know your intentions, will cost a couple of bucks but may sort out the Nissan typically craphouse service.

There is a sensor that detects engine temperature. If the engine temp gets high the air con cuts out.
Problem is Nissan 4.2 diesels don't have adequate cooling for hotter Australian conditions. I guess your sensor is not set quite right and needs replacing

Or bridge out the relay driven by this sensor. Have done that to all our ones with no dramas.

promac,
I too have the same ute as yours, and i live in north queensland, which is obviously a hot place, and my AC has only ever cut out once, and i thought i must have picked up a plastic bag on the radiator or the like, coz the engine temp guage was over half way (
mine normally sits just under half) and it turned out my radiator was full of mud from a big bog hole that i had pushed thru earlier that day.
As for it cutting out normally, i was in central australia last summer, in 45+ temps, pulling a trailer, and it never got hot, so i would suggest that their claim that it is normal is crap. try calling nissan australia headoffice, and letting them know you are not happy.

is it when you hit 100, or when the car gets real hot?
If its when it gets real hot, thats what its meant to do.
