sat phone hire

i need to hire a sat phone in june for 3 weeks from SOUTHEAST QLD area i have had one price $420 plus calls. any one else hired one recently or has one for hire around that time.

for what they are worth to hire, plus the insurance deposit.... normally around $1000. don't bother

you won't be the only one out there at that time of year. a good radio will suffice

other option is to buy your own... $350-$400 and its yours for good

Can you get a pre paid sat phone? For $400 sounds like a good investment, but if you have to pay rental fees for 11 months of the year when not in use, maybe wouldnt be.

Suspect Brian is talking about a member of this site. Worth checking out. I took his sat phone on a 16 week trip up north earlier this year. Didn't use it (or even turn it on, other than to test it when we got it). But since it was for emergency use, that's good news.

Much better than hiring commercially which was more expensive than buying one for the time we wanted.
