Hi all,
Quick question! We're heading to
Yeppoon for xmas and staying with family but we intend on doing a couple of day trips - one of them up to Five Rocks at
Byfield NP for some fishing and swimming. Anyone know if the stingers have come that far south this summer yet?
Cheers
Scoey!

Geez I'm a bit more opposed to the noahs than the stingers - might just keep a good eye out! ;-) Thanks for the info but govo, did you catch much?
Cheers

G'day Scoey
It's usually pretty safe that far south, and my family used to swim at
Yeppoon and
Emu Park when I was a kid.
On the other hand, my brother who works with National Parks out of
Rockhampton tells me that a box jellyfish was netted off the main beach at
Yeppoon yesterday.
There are only two things I really know about these suckers - you can't see them; and they can kill you.
Strongly suggest you get some reputable local knowledge when you get to
Yeppoon, or at least do only what the locals do.

G'day
stingers are found down south as 1770, I was there last year at 1770 and two people got stung.
