After some quick advice i need to replace the tyres on my 90 series prado (265/70R16) and due to budgets i have the choice of Maxxis 751 or Hankook AT/RF08. Does anyone have any experiences with the Maxxis?

Cheers
Mike

Mike

Have recently purchased two Maxxis 751 for my Prado(1997). Have only been on for about 2 months, and haven't been used much off road - a bit of sand and a bit of gravel - but they seem to go well. Very happy with them to date.

My mate has had 4 on his disco for about 12 months and they don't seem to wear too bad, and have handled the sand and rougher bush tracks quite well.

Other mate with a 97 Cruiser has just fitted 4, and is happy with the choice (and the cost). No problems towing a small boat thru the sand, and happy with result.

I too am limited by my budget (or SWMBO budget !!). I would like to be able to shop at the higher end of the tyre price range, but from my experience, and for my requirements (moderate 4wding on sand, bush tracks and some rougher stuff) Maxxis would be the way to go.

Also, as my Prado is my day to day chariot, they are reasonabley quiet on the road, whilst still looking the part.

Good luck with your decision

Also worth looking at the mid price range Simex Centipede 300i AT's at around
$160. Simex tyres are made in Malaysia and have a very good rep. Currently being
rebranded as Sime tyres. There is a desc on this web page
