Hi all, over this festive season please remember to slow down not only for safety reasons but for double demerit points.

In NSW the dates are, 22nd December through to 1st January (Inclusive).

Have a safe and happy time out and about but remember to stick to the speed limit.

dave.

Complete, unmitigated Govt wank to raise more money.

"stick to the speed limit"...... the only reason to perform this ridiculous act is to save money, not lives. Driving at an appropriate and safe speed will save lives. That may be 140 in a posted 100 zone and 70 in other posted 100 zones.

Simple, and indisputable fact is that Govt revenue from speeding fines is skyrocketing and it is not doing a damn thing to reduce the road toll.

If you drive some of the roads in the hilly parts of Vic, you will see numerous crosses nailed to trees where someone has died. A bit of "Armco" railing would have saved these lives on dangerous bends. Of course Govt will put the cause down to speeding as it suits their agenda.

I remember, some years ago, the first time I drove the (unsealed) Jamieson to Woods Point road (Vic High Country) and noticed the 100kph signs - you would need to be out of your tiny mind to do 100kph on most of that road. Yet many Oz roads with a good, wide, sealed, surface and a terrain where you can see for miles are limited to 100kph also.

Speed kills? I don't think so - bad driving kills.

Because Jumbo saving lives is a major concern of mine and my family ,and people such as you who have no regard for the law pertaining to that end are nought but wankers ,so revenue raising !!! makes you think twice ,better than being dead.

I am going to spend the Entire Charismas Holladay period driving a minium of 15km/h over the sped limit everywhere I go, in protest and to fight for the truth LOL,

we sould make this a national day, Call it Speed to freedom day, or 15 over and up yours Government revenuerasing Day, Or one of there’s ones> add 5 save lives LOL

On the plus side the road toll would drop as know body would have a license so couldn't drive, then the economy would crumble as know body could get to work.

Look at the positives dude.

Exploder,

Exactly right about the economy. I'd hate to be a truck driver or courier driver etc now days with all the photographic cash registers on the roads now. Must be really affecting professional drivers and as you know being a mechanic yourself (As i am) this trade has a severe shortage of qualified personell, my prediction is that the professional driving industry will be the same as ours in 5 years. This will lead to a growth in inflation and damage to the economy. Interesting thing i saw on the tv recently was some pollie saying that the nation needs to get freight off trucks and onto rail to reduce fuel burn, ie oil consumption long term. Maybe a conspiricy theory to slow down road transport growth! Yep, It is ultimately about controlling the population, it's a world of "you can't do that". Mate everything is illegal now, I could go on for ages!

Regards

Greg

Hi All,
A similar thing is in place in WA too!

Last Night's news/TodayTonight told of a 70 km stretch of South West Hwy (inland road Perth to Bunbury) where there were a total of 7 or 8 Police check points.
Hand held Radars, Multanova Speed camera's, plain and marked cars and a booze and drug bus all in this stretch.

Guess What
Some D*#K Heads were caught 2 or 3 times.
Some of the speeds recorded were 135 in a 90 zone, 90 in a 60, 80 in a 50
Many were P platers under 25yo
Average speeds were at least 10km over the limits.
It is more than possible to lose your licence in one day.

Be Warned, this may continue at other locations in WA.

No sympathy from me

Disco

Gee thanks for the timely reminder. I had forgotten that if I get caught speeding I will get fined. That means I would be contributing to revenue therefore I am effectively subsidising revenue for someone who chooses to not speed. Gee the choice seems obvious to me - DON'T SPEED = not contributing to revenue.

To all you ***kers out there who choose to ignore the rules and compromise the safety of other road users, I wish you DOUBLE DEMERIT POINTS, A FLAT BATTERY, WATER IN YOUR FUEL, FLAT TYRES, HI-LIFT JACK THAT WON'T WORK, SNATCH STRAP THAT WON'T SNATCH, HI-LIFT SUSPENSION THAT COLLAPSES, A WINCH THAT WON'T WIND AND A DOG THAT CRAPS IN YOUR BACK SEAT.

I'm all for road safety, courtesy and consideration when travelling on the road. If you choose otherwise 'play the sailor - pay the price'.

haha why not add a blown headgasket and stone chips in your windscreen in there for good measure... im sure everybody flaunts the law at some time... maybe just ease off the gas over the crissy break.

Cheers, Anand. and have a merry christmas all!

Speed does not kill lack of driver education & bad roads do.
i fully believe in speed limits in town & school zones but on a good stretch of open hi way why not up the limit to 130kph. In the NT on open limit roads people mostly do this speed safely.
I seriously believe a car & caravan doing 80kph in a 110kph zone & not spacing them selves out to let other faster traffic past is a greater danger on the road than me sitting on 120kph ....anyway merry Christmas's & a happy new year & i hope everyone is safe this season & don't let the revenue raising dogs catch you either.

LOL

"a car & caravan doing 80kph in a 110kph zone & not spacing them selves out to let other faster traffic past "

Are you suggesting the car and the caravan travel separately?

Sorry 66toy, I could'nt resist :))))))))))))))))))))))

lol fair comment gramps .
i meant a cars & caravans as a combo travelling in convoy as we often see on the roads doing 80kph in a 110kph zone . It is very hard to get past sometimes when there is 3 or 4 of these people nose to tail blissfully unaware (or totally ignorant) of other road users ! Please those of you reading this that do the above space yourselves out at least 100mtr apart or more so trucks & faster traffic do not have to stay on the wrong side of the road for longer than necessary or when only limited safe room for overtaking is available..............666TOY

Hahaha I agree you entirely re caravans (and their attached vehicles) travelling in convoy. Most caravanners are OK and do their best not to impede traffic but those that don't are the ones that stick in our memory.

ps I have never towed a caravan, or owned one, etc etc etc
