I own a Tvan and I am thinking of replacing the jocky wheel with a ratchet type.
I have seen a few around but one I have seen is a heavy duty one,and i did not get the name of it at the time (silly me). My question is are there any Tvan owners out there with one fitted and if so the makers name, I dont want to get one from the Tvan manufactures because they are too expensive. Any help would be most appreciated.....THANKS MICK

The best one around by a big margin is the Maco Mule which is made in Sth Aust. They come up quite regularly on eBay and sell second hand for around $120 - $150. New at caravan and 4wd shows they sell for around $220.

We have a Maco which we bought from a caravan sales yard second hand for $100. They are very good. The only problem we have is that it slips occasionally on the gravel in the drive - air down and it works fine.

Cheers

I had one of the ratchet types from supacheap. It was useless. Only worked on concrete on level ground or the wheel just spun and slipped on the ground giving no traction. It was also a pain because it had to be set for either forwards or reverse and the setting wasn't easy. Fiddly and PITA when manouvering requiring backwards and forwards. Other brands I don't know about, but the problem seemed to be just too much torque for a small diameter wheel to get traction.

I just bought a maco mule and it handles my van 1400kg yet it still spins on concreate at times the big differance is the square teeth on the hub which IMHO is far stronger than your supercheap easy mover type which have holes and I have been told they can break if you give them too much curry ?? I paid over $300 for mine at coast to coast and I wish I saw them when they were $220 ...one bit of advice, only use it to move your van into position and change back to the cheapy when done as you dont want to leave such an expensive item on display at a park or even in your front yard , if thats where it lives as they have been known to grow legs (if you know what I mean ) not to mention the wheather .

Mick, I used an AL-KO ratchet jockey wheel on my previous Coromal camper. Cost about $140 and was brilliant, especially for lining up the Treg hitch.

Coast to Coast RV sell them.
