Evening all. Has anyone driven their 4WD along the beach from Marlo or Corringle to where the Snowy may or may not be flowing into the sea? Is 4WDing even allowed? Walking is an option if its not too many km. Cheers, Warrie

Tinnie would be the go, I was going to niavely suggest a canoe, a red jacket, mounties hat & sing selections from "Indian Love Call". But, yes a tinnie, preferably with a motor and being in Victoria don't forget the ludicrous amount of safety gear, PFD's, flares, epirb, anchor with at least 6 cables of rope attached, oars/paddles, fresh water, navigation charts (maps just don't cut it with the Victorian authorities) and marine band radio, along with emergency hole repair kit, first aid kit, collapsible bucket, "approved" bailing device, and boat registration paperwork.

I don't think beach driving is allowed in Victoria.

Marlo, great area, but absolutely no beach driving allowed.

Have a caravan in the local caravan park, will be there boxing day.

The entrance from the snowy river to the ocean should be open. They don't like having it shut as the river pollutes quite quickly with all the boats around.

If you want to walk to the entrance there are several options. You can go to Corrigle Beach and walk, or go to Marlo and wade across the estuary on low tide. Down past the entrance there is quite a lot of sand and shallow water, on or near a low tide, you can wade across easily. We have done this many times. Another option is to head from Marlo down towards Cape Conran, to Frenches Narrows, and walk back across to the ocean, and back to the entrance. The shortest distance is the wading option though. The other options are a fair walk.

Enjoy.

Hi Warrie, while you are in the area check out Cape Conran Coastal Park. Great spot, excellent camping areas.

Enjoy

Thanks Alex, Andrew and the refreshingly cynical Mr Fawlty. Looks like its got to be shanks' pony to get to the Snowy mouth!! The way the fires are going all the potential high country campers are going to be on the coast so it could be a little crowded in the first week of January. Lets hope it rains soon. Warrie
