Hi All,
Does anyone know of any brands/types of plastic
water containers that do not leave a plastic taste in the
water? or do they all?
I am looking at a 20lt tall one to fit in the rear cargo area.
any advice would be appreciated.Thanks

Willow plastic
water containers from K Mart or Big W are good. Have had no issues with bad taste.

If you have the genuine Army surplus plastic jerrys, hang onto them, much thicker than the look-alikes.
I lost one off the trailer on
Cape York last year @ 50 kph, went back picked it up & kept going, no leaks, just a few scratches!!
Stay away from the no name cheepies,
water tastes like I washed my socks in it. 8 (~

Thanks Oz, I'm not sure if they're ridgy-didge army or just no-name but definitely not recycled plastic. We've used used them for a cuppla years now and no dirty sox taste. Have held
water in'm for long to test I suspect.

Make sure that you get the Khaki jerry can shape plastic ones from Aussie Disposals or K-Mart.
The white ones & the light blue ones WILL grow algae inside in
bright daylight.

Grunter
I use one of these for drinking and general use , when the url opens click on
"Truck
Water Tanks " in the list on the left side
" target="EOF" class="lbg">www.dynaplas.com.au/
not sure where you are but I got it from Diesel Spares near the Donaldson Rd Overpass Rocklea Qld , most of the Truck accessory
places should have them
I have my 80ltr in the troopy other way up so the flat bottom is down. scroll down to the bottom and you will find a 40ltr as
well

I have 3 in the shed. Two are made by VB Plastics and one is made by ACI, all Australian made, all bought with a Willow label on them too.
Some of the ones I have seen for-sale lately are made with a softer thiner plastic, so keep an eye out for the good ones. They should have a National Stock Number (NSN) stamped/molded into them in a recess near the bottom that indicates they meet the Military specification.
The NSN will look something like 7240-66-054-4944
Where are you heading up near
Wingham? I will be up there for Christmas too. Doing a few day trips up to Nowendock and across
Barrington Tops, so keep an eye out for a Brownie colour/Silver Terrano II with a Pathfinder club stickers on it.

Took 6 plastic ( army green ) ones away on last trip in August,
water left in them is still fine ,
Clear jerry cans/ containers, the
water will go off
I think I paid $22 at Big W, Wonthaggi for them, or try Aussie Disposals ,

Scroll down this link and you can see
