Hi
Can anyone please tell me how long a 60lt trailblazer fridge will run from a sealed acid gel battery??
I need to get 4 day out of one
And what should i pay for one?

Hi Jon,
Depends where you are taking the fridge ie outside temperature, how many times you open and close it and also what setting you have it on. But having said that the Trailblaza will use around 30 amps per day so you will need to charge the battery from a source ie vehicle, solar, charger. 70 amp battery is not going to cut it by itself.Also the compressors on the newer Trailblazers are wound up faster drawing more current for a shorter period. It the battery is down in power the Trailblazer will not start up whereas a Engel or Autofridge may given the lower start up amps

I fully concur with Jon. I run an earlier model 60ltr.Trailblaza (nearly 20 years old now) which chews an average of 20 amps/day & I use a deep-cycle battery setup (190amps) coupled to 160 watts of solar energy to keep the fridge running for long periods & also ensuring I don't discharge the batteries too much so as to extend their life. You will be lucky to have a 70 amp battery last more then 3 days & using the battery under those conditions will certainly reduce its operating life.

I think you are being a little ambitious unless you've got a very, very big battery, or not planning on running your fridge for very long each day. If you've got an average 100 amp/hour battery, and your fridge draws an average 4 amps/hour......
well the beer is going is not going to stay cold for too long. How much current your fridge uses will be dependant upon the weather, thermostat setting and how often the kids open the lid etc. Two - five amps per hour would be typical.
Cost will be around $2-300 depending on size and brand etc. These are specialised batteries, so you can't use the $25 Kmart battery charger, unless you are not intending to keep the battery for long.
From the tone of your posting, it sounds like somebody has given you only half the information you require. Derek from ABR batteries is a regular contributor to this
forum and seems to offer good advice, although I have found that his pricing is not always competitive. Also have a look back through the archives, as there are plenty of articles that maybe helpful. You may need to reconsider your options.
