Most owners who instal a holden or chev V8 fit an adapter use the Toyota gearbox and transfer case.
Now if he cant specify if it will work in 4x4 it sounds like a project that has been put in the too hard basket.
I wouldnt touch it unless it has a mint body and you are prepared to fix all of his stuff ups.
Please do not even think about buying this one unseen.
Its possible the supra box is simlar to the hilux and Bundeera boxes and its possible the t/case off one of them will mate to the supra(Note there are two "possibles" in that statement)

Have a mate who did this combo in a holden ute, 253 with supra 5 speed and it was excellent, the supra box is a good unit, but not sure about making it a 4wd, you will need to establish what transfer case it has, if any, and if it is connected?
I would also suggest you get on ya pony and go have a look. You will not wont to pay too much for it.

Happy Christmas Pesty and family too. Hey mate, the Supra box is probably stronger than a choke'Cruiser one............

Older Supra 5 speeds will fit onto hilux transfers.....the current "Supra" 5 speed was also used in Prados and Std 100 series diesels....called an R series box....it could be that this is what is being used....the short answer is Supra means alot of different things to different people.....ie to holden people it means reliable 5 speed for a 308, to Nissan owners, it means a gearbox that you dont need to worry about buying layshafts and 5th gear clusters for....
By for now (flame suit on)
Andrew
for....unlike some other gearbox brands :)
