I've seen 'em go on ebay for $10- !!!! (sorry to disappoint you). I'm just about to replace
mine too, with a single DIN CD player and I'll put the UHF in the lower spot. I've already got the radios ready to go in, but will be giving the old one (which still works okay) to my 17 y/o son for some project he wants it for.

Hi Steve,
Like above, the price is dominated by the buyer, not the seller. I to have seen some very good quality and very expensive to purchase new radios sell for a song.
This will not help you, but you never know, you may get a good price.

The aftermarket car audio scene is very stong and extensive. That is what i would say is the main reason they are cheaper. Also, I doubt they would have many of the features of aftermarket headunits, such as mp3 capability (in your case), auxilliary outs etc.. (altho im happy to stand corrected). I'de keep it to be honest. Wrap it and shelf it and so if there is every a time you come to sell the GU, you dont have to a) let go of your dvd player which i image cost you anywhere between $500-$2000 at a fraction of wat it is worth. b) Get a cheaper headunit (i think a cheap noname mp3 is like $110 onwards) or go looking for a stock one later.
Just my .02c worth
Cheers,
Anand.

Either the above suggestion or get a 12v power source from Dick Smith rated to a couple of amps (or a 12vo battery that's sitting on a float charger), a couple of old speakers (junk box, wreckers) or a cheap set from Strathfield, and put it in the shed.
The tuners in car stereos these days are usually pretty good. I can easily pull in
Melbourne AM (774) in the shed and I can't get it on the big stereo in the house.
