For those of you who have suffered the long running saga of faulty GPS Navigator on the 2005-2006 Pajero Exceeds there may be an answer.
It seems that MML either do not care or financially can not care. Either way it is not good enough. If like me you bought your Exceed because of the GPS then you have a right to complain. I have surfed many sites trying to find an answer. Lots of people have done lots of things but none seems to bring the problem to resolution.
In my view MML sold an unmerchantable product and continued to sell that product for many months even after they knew it was faulty. This is the sort of thing that the ACCC is there to help protect us from.
In all my looking I have not seen anyone suggest that the ACCC be involved. If like me you believe that MML has acted immorally at best, illegally at worst I suggest you report them to the ACCC at Site Link

the gps unit is supplied to mitsubishi ( and about 10 other manufacturers) in this country by eurovox. Jap and European manufacturers don't supply things like gps or any accessories.
the problem is Eurovox went bankrupt. Had they still been operating, any issues would have been dealt with by them.
MMAL is distributing Tom Toms to customers with problems as a way of trying to keep the peace. the units themselves can't simply be replaced, as other manufacturers units dont fit in the dash.
MMAL and others who used eurovox are hardly to blame and certanly haven't done anything illegal.

As I see it, Exceed owners have a contract with MMAL. The fact that Eurovox has gone under does not affect the contract between customer and MMAL, and MMAL are bound to find a solution suitable to the customer. If, as an example, the speedo manufacturer went bust, and MMAL provided a tack-on speedo to replace a faulty speedo, one would have reason to be very upset.
Ajax might have gone bust, but this does not relieve GMH and Ford of any warranty liability if an Ajax fastener fails in their vehicle.
A warranty has been provided, and it should be kept, both morally and legally.

Gerry, you are dead right mate, MMAL has the moral and legal responsibility to make right the faulty apparatus, even if Eurovox have gone under. Their due diligence process should have flushed out a Eurovoxrat, either way MMAL have sold the goods and are responsible.

Hi Bonz,
Exactly! When a manufacturer takes on an external supplier, they must, themselves, under their warranty, be prepared to wear any problems brought about through that external supplier. In this case, they haven't done their homework properly, and they must wear it and make good, not pass on the problem to the customer.
What makes it even even worse in this case it that the Exceed is/was MMAL's top-of-the-woz product, and they are treating their (valued?) customers like $h!t.
Gerry

There are a number of in dash units which will fit the Paj. Problem is they will cost MML $3500 each but big deal. The reall issue that I and lots of others have is that MML continued to sell the units, long before Eurovox went broke, when they knew there were serious reliability, design and software problems.
If they continued to sell a vehicle with faulty brakes they we would be furious, rightly so, so why not a GPS?

Hi Jeff M,The problem is they just dont do the job,we live in one of the oldest towns in Victoria. The
population is over 10.000 ,the GPS will only bring up 3 streets. On our last trip to
Melbourne, our 20 min trip took 1 hour!Just makes me so mad we are still paying a lot of money for a product that doesnt work.We have no problems with the rest of the car its great.Donks1 I dont want to dig at you but MML could put other units in that do work it might cost them alot of money but if they look after their customers they will keep coming back cheers&allthe best for 2007,lets hope we are all here this time next year sue

There are really two issues with the GPS. first they are very poor in compariso toothers on the market, they simply do not work
well enough tobe reliable.
Mine for example when it was working had no Frase Island on it. My sisters suburb is more than 5 years old but not in the maps.
The second is they they just stop working.
Mine is stuck on full volume so about one stazrt in ten it booms out "USER ONE" at a thousand db but then that is all it will do.
I was in a taxi last evening with a Tom Tom (2 years old) and what a difference it was. The TT actully was very useful.
Don'r forget MML sold the Exceed when it know that 60% were going to fail. VEry poor.

Mitsubishi have no right to shirk their warranty responsibility by attempting to pass the buck to Eurovox (or their receivers). You bought a Mitsubishi, not a Eurovox.
For those who have given up on ever getting this resolved, you may care to look at the Eclipse nav system. I recently bought one, and it is brilliant. Toyota use a very close relative in their cars. Obviously, so should Mitsubishi.
